Juliet lay in the den she now shared with Bone, licking her new little ones. She'd birthed them silently during the night. Bone was gone away, as usual. Two years of being nocturnal had gotten the best of him. He often wandered at night and slept for most of the day. Her ears were pinned back as she looked at her pups. One she-wolf, one brute. The she-wolf looked like Juliet herself, with a few traces of ther pup's father here and there. The male looked exactly like his father. That's what troubled her.
The little male looked like Dirtspatter.
"Juliet..." Mystic peered into the den to see if her daughter was awake. She'd checked on her daughter every morning for the two weeks or so, as her pups had been so close to arriving. The she-wolf caught the scents coming from the den and grinned. Her tail started to wag. "May your father and I come in and see them?"
Juliet smiled nervously and nodded as her mother called for her father. Oh dear.

Romeo slipped in silently, ears perked, tail wagging excitedly. He couldn't wait to see his new grandchildren. As he came in, his gaze spotted the little male pup first... and a huge grin split his lips. "Ha. I figured that's what you were doin' when you snuck off a couple months ago." Personally, he thought it was pretty amazing. He preferred Dirt over Bone, like a majority of the pack. He leaned in to nuzzle his daughter's scruff gently. "I can keep Bone away from the den, while you and your mother come up with a plan."

Juliet smiled a little and nuzzled her father. She pinned her ears back and shook her head. "No...I'm not going to hide anything from him." The she-wolf looked at her little pups. They were both large and healthy-looking. That was a relief, at least.
Mystic wagged her tail and smiled at her daughter. "They're beautiful, either way. I never thought I'd see the day!" She licked her daughter's cheek and nuzzled against her mate. Neither parent had ever even dared to dream that Juliet would be the next one to give them grandpups. They thought she'd stay flirty and open for the next thousand years or so. Maybe after that she'd have gotten her fill and decided she wanted to have a family.

Romeo grinned. "Come on, Julie. If Mystic had some other guy's pups two months after I came in and became her mate? Dunno if he's gonna take this very well." Although his words were ominous, he was still vastly amused. He adored the idea of Juliet having pups too much to care about possible conflicts.

"I'll deal with it." Juliet assured him. She licked her son almost anxiously. Both pups were suckling happily, unaware of what conflicts their very existence would cause. She was trying occupy herself by thinking up names for the two of them. Her son was an earthy brown sort of color, why her daughter was a red-brown like Juliet and her father. Juliet smiled at her pups. No matter whose they were, she still loved them.

Romeo suddenly frowned, glancing up to catch his daughter's gaze. "Are you going to tell Dirt?" He was debating on whether or not to ask 'are you' or 'how are you'. But he ought to ask her if she even wanted to tell the pups' father they existed, before they thought of how to track down the big Bluesky male.

"I...I just want to tell Bone first. Then I'll decide." She set her head on her paws. It wouldn't be long before her mate came back, now. Juliet had been debating what she should say to him when he came back. There was a small 'woof', and when Mystic turned around Bone was standing there. His eyes were shining, and he was wagging his tail.
"It happened?" he asked hopefully.
Mystic nodded, and looked to her daughter to see what she wanted them to do. Juliet jerked her head a bit, her eyes pleading. She wanted to be alone with her mate at the moment. The she-wolf curled herself around her pups, as if to delay it for a few precious seconds. Mystic licked her forehead and nudged Romeo. They'd stay nearby. Just in case.

Romeo shook his head. "I'm not moving." He said sternly, and in fact moved himself a bit in front of Bone, protective of his daughter. He had been a Blackshadow once, too, and knew the urge to kill. After all, Dandre had been ripped in half by his own jaws once. And that was years after he was with Mystic, and those pups were his. Bone had much more reason to kill these pups.

"Daddy!"
"Romeo!"
Mother and daughter spoke at the same time. Juliet nudged her father, her eyes wide. "Stand right outside the den if you want. You can jump right in if...Please, Daddy." She was aware of Bone's questioning gaze on her now. Mystic stayed partially in the den, still blocking Bone from coming in.

He glared down at her, then up at Bone, completely untrusting. He didn't like this at all. "Fine. But he's gonna back off a bit with me. He can see from the entrance." He kept his gaze on Bone, dominating. He didn't trust anyone except Mystic when it came to his kids. Bone was most certainly no exception.

Mystic let out a sigh and moved away. Bone slipped in and stood just beyond the entrance, beside Romeo. He was worried now. What was the big deal? Juliet took a deep breath and uncurled herself so the pups could be seen clearly. Bone's eyes widened, and he started to growl. Then, the growling ceased. He took a step towards Juliet and the pups, but was stopped by his mate's angry snarl.
"Relax." Bone said calmly. "The she-wolf I'll take to Bleaknight." His eyes were narrowed at the male pup. "I promised him a strong she-wolf. He'll get one."
Juliet laid back her ears. "Fine. And the male will-"
"Die." Bone growled.
The new mother sighed, sorrow glistening in her eyes. "Alright. Just...give me some time to say goodbye to the both of them. Ok? Go for a hunt or something...just leave." Juliet whimpered and nuzzled her pups. "The male will be dead by the time you come back. I promise."
Bone nodded and started to walk out.
"Bone?"
He looked back.
Juliet whimpered. "I'm sorry."
Bone just ran off, out of the camp. When Juliet was sure he was gone, she stood up. She looked at her father. "Which direction is the Bluesky border again?" Ooooh. Clever Juliet.

Romeo glared after Bone. "The second you're headed away, he's gone." He growled, ears back. He leaned forward to pick up the little female, extremely careful. "I'll show you the way to Bluesky. We may have to track him from there. He may not have been let back into the pack." He personally adored his daughter's re-discovered spirit. He'd been hoping Bone hadn't killed it all.

Juliet nodded and picked up her little son. Mystic nuzzled her daughter and looked off in the direction that Bone had gone. "Hurry, the both of you. We don't know how long he plans to give you to say 'goodbye.'"
Juliet looked at her father, silently telling him to lead the way.

Romeo glanced back at Mystic. "Exile his ass outta here the second he gets back." He grinned, racing to the north, to the border no one ever really visited. He paused there, looking around curiously. Where could he be?
Dirt and Mud had been harboring on the edge of the border for some time now. There was a ditch between the territories, and a hole against one side, hidden by bushes and a deep, wide creek, just short of a river. Mud snuck out into the open, limping heavily. An infected wound across her shoulder leaked with creamy white fluid, from a hunt gone wrong. Her fur stuck tighter to her bones than it had when she'd left the Blackwood pack, as she looked around to try and find something to eat. She was grateful she was better than Dirt, at least.

Juliet followed her father to the border. She was surprised by the ditch, and almost went over it. But she stopped herself in time, thankfully. The she-wolf set her son down gently and licked him affectionately. He let out a thin shriek, hungry for milk again. Juliet smiled, but it faded when she sensed movement. The she-wolf moved her son towards her protectivly. At least until she saw Mudbath. Even though the she-wolf looked terrible, Juliet was overjoyed to see her.
"Mud!" Juliet barked, her tail wagging. Ok, so there was Mudbath. Where was Dirtspatter?
