She shook her head. "I already ate. And Blackshadow land is fertile. I was lucky enough to be a High-ranker, so I didn't starve like some of the others do." She shrugged, gently nuzzling the younger male and starting back to camp. "Have you ever been there yourself?"

Starblood shook his head. "No. Mother kept us well away from the Blackshadow border." And for good reason. To this day when they ventured to the Blackshadow border he and Dandre felt immense fear. It didn't matter that their siblings had come back. He could still remember seeing them brutally murdered by a wolf that looked just like him. Whenever he thought of Jasper, he shuddered. Back when Starblood was a pup he'd had nightmares about him. Those nightmares caused him to vow to never be like his great-uncle. No matter what. Starblood picked up the rabbits again and continued on with her.

She watched the young male, ears perked. "I heard what happened. It sounds rough. I'm sorry for what he did." She smiled, pausing as her gaze flicked up to the trees. She froze for a long moment before launching up the trees, claws scraping the bark, disappearing into the leaves. After only a moment, she dropped back down with a huge raven in her jaws, almost half her size.

Starblood couldn't really say anything with the two rabbits in his mouth. No apology could ever erase the memories of blood, screaming, and the paralyzing fear. But he supposed it didn't matter now. His siblings were alive. Safe. Healthy. He glanced at the raven and nodded to Mudbath. Not really because it was so big. He'd grown used to unusually large prey long ago. But because it was a good catch.

Mud grinned, moving to head back to camp now, tail wagging. This should do. She sped up as they got closer, and set the raven and half the catch of rabbits down beside the deer, glancing up to wait for Starblood.

Starblood came up and set the rabbits down. He looked them over, then picked the plumpest one up and took it to his sister and her pups. He returned a few moments later with empty jaws. "Well we certainly won't be going hungry within the next few lifetimes." Starblood looked at the skeleton. Crows had been allowed to gather around and pick helplessly at the bones in hopes they could find bits of meat that the hungry pack hadn't devoured. Some of them had given up and were hopping towards the fresh carcasses. Starblood growled softly and they hopped away quickly.

Mud laughed, amused, dropping the large raven by her brother, who was currently laying outside the den, still pretty tired and in need of more food. She knew it would take some time before her brother was fully recovered, but certainly the prescence of his own pups would speed it up. True, his trust in Juliet was still broken, and it would take much longer than a few days for the pretty, flirty female to gain it back again. But it would have been much worse if the pups she bore were Bone's.
Mud glanced back at Starblood, flicking her ears forward. She opened her mouth to ask a question before her gaze locked on an empty den nearby. She smiled slowly, making her way inside. By the smell, it hadn't been used in some time, so much so that any smell in it was too faint to identify, so she figured it would be alright if she took residence there for a while.

Starblood smiled as Mudbath curled up in, what seemed to be, her new den. Shadow padded over and nudged his brother. Starblood happily stepped aside to let his brother eat. Shadow grunted gratefully and wagged his tail. The two had grown close over the time they'd been together. Now when the grown wolves referred to 'the boys' they meant Shadow as well as Dandre and Starblood.
"Has Grandfather gotten up?" Starblood asked. It was so odd to have another grandfather beside Hemitite!
Shadow shook his head, his muzzle stained with blood. After gulping down a scrap of meat he said, "You might want to wake him up before the food is gone. You know how Mother always wants him to put some more weight on."
Starblood shrugged. "He is mostly skin and bones."

"Someone call me?" Caled a lightly-accented voice as Hemitite stepped into the clearing, tail wagging. He glanced over at the boys, used to seeing only two. At the third, he paused, and for a moment, his gaze flickered in regret. Remembering what his brother had done. But he shook it off and grinned. Just memories. He stepped forward, ears pricked. "This must be one of Myst's children that Sol stole away." He teased, sitting nearby.
Nearby, Fhazier was lying in the sunlight, napping. The warmth of the sunlight was the only substitute for his lost fur, and he preferred to be in the light more than dark anyway. Being a light sleeper, he slowly opened one eye when he heard voices, and his nose caught the scent of food. His eyes didn't see the grandchildren he never knew, but he could identify their closeness using smell and hearing.

"Grandfather!" Starblood and Dandre ran to greet him. Though they were far to old to tackle and jump him, they did nudge him lightly and wag their tails in greeting. Shadow sat up a little straighter. He'd heard stories about Hemitite from hanging around young, high-ranking males. Though he'd never seen him. Nor had he ever seen his uncle Jasper before.
"Actually, we were talking about our other grandfather." Dandre jerked his head towards Fhazier. Somehow the furless wolf managed to find a small patch of sunlight in their shady lands. Starblood grabbed one of the kills and carried it over to him. He set it on Fhazier's paws with a smile.
"Eat up." Starblood said brightly.

Hemitite grinned, amused at the two siblings' greeting. He glanced over at Shadow again, grinning. His gaze was reassuring, tail wagging lightly in a polite, friendly gesture. Sure, all those horror stories he probably heard were true, but that didn't mean the Captain was like that around his grand-kids. He glanced down at Fhazier, and instantly, his lips curled in disgust, and he instantly looked away, looking about to wretch. "That... disgusting... thing?" His body shivered with genuine nausia at the very sight of the aging wolf. Blackshadow habits die hard.
Fhazier either didn't notice Hemitite, or he was ignoring the physically younger wolf. He dipped his head to Starblood, sniffing suspiciously at the kill before tentatively starting to eat. His body was stiff as he ate, and his ears flicked every which way, listening in for any threat that may come and steal this food.

Shadow seemed to relax a little bit. All three boys, however, tilted their heads in curiousity. Hemitite seemed genuinely disgusted by their other grandfather. Starblood sat down beside Fhazier in an attempt to reassure him slightly. He was safe now. It would take a while for him to understand that. Until Starblood would be his 'protector.'
A she-wolf emerged from her den. She saw Hemitite and smiled. Over the time she'd come to finally trust her father. Mystic walked over and nuzzled him briefly, her tail wagging. "Hello there, Father." Hemitite wasn't exactly 'Papa' yet. That would always be Starfrost. But he could always be 'Father.'

Hemitite shook his head, not looking at the three. "Ugh... you'd have to have been in my pack as long as I have. You don't realize how... human the low-class is." He hissed with more disgust, but tried to swallow it down as he glanced up at Myst. He instantly pushed against her fur, trying to seek some comfort to his disgust.
Fhazier growled harshly at the slightest touch, moving to snap his toothless jaws at his grandson, irritated.

"Oh." Dandre and Shadow shrugged in unison.
"Fhazier!" Mystic scolded lightly. Fhazier had no teeth, but the aggression was there. Sometimes it felt like she was teaching her pups all over again: Don't bite. Don't growl. Don't stare directly at us. Fhazier was blind, which was why the latter was such a problem. He stared without seeing. Sometimes he managed to look at them directly. By instinct it aroused hosility within them. Even Mystic got the urge to snap at him when he stared at her directly. With a sigh the Alphess looked back at her father. "How are you? Well, I hope?"
Starblood moved away slightly and laid down beside Fhazier. He had dedication at least.

Instantly, at Mystic's scold, the blind wolf turned his snarl to her, lips pulled around empty gums. In truth, the only way he was eating was... he wasn't. He was trying to, but all he was succeeding in was getting an occasional scrp of loose meat or fat, and gulping down a lot of blood. It was obviously adding to his irritation, which may be contributing to his quick temper at those around him.
Hemitite sighed, focusing on Mystic. His gaze was on the ground though, disgust still evident in his gaze. "A bit. I got scolded a bit for losing my females again." He snorted, ears drawn back. "I've been doing that a lot lately, and Jazz's starting to blame it on my weakness for you." He shrugged. Mention of his brother was casual to him. Something that took a lifetime. An immortal lifetime.
