Magic whimpered and nuzzled against her. He would need a little comforting. He could still hear his brothers and sisters squealing helplessly. "I'm just glad you're all safe." His brothers and sisters may not be safe, but at least his pups and mate were. That was something. "Oh, Soot...it was awful...."
Mystic didn't move for a few agonizingly long moments. She was experincing a mother's worst nightmare: losing her children. Her sweet, innocent children. Mystic kept replaying their last happy moments in her mind, over and over. She could hear their laughs, see their smiles...yes, it might be causing her more pain. But she couldn't help it. Mystic finally raised her head to look at her father. She looked at his mangled paw with clouded eyes. "Thank you...thank you for trying."
Starblood looked at Dandre. He was crying now. Sniffling so that his tears fell into the pond. Starblood nuzzled his brother, tears stinging at his own eyes. Both pups soon ran to their father for comfort. Starblood gazed up at his father, tears running down his face. "Dad, last night...last night...Dove kicked me, and I got mad at her! And we fought and I said I hated her!" Both pups looked so pitiful, so terrified. "I...I...you think she knew I didn't mean it? I don't hate her, Dad! Do you think she knew, Dad? I...I..." Starblood whimpered. "I...I just want 'em back..."

Soot frowned softly at the ground, honestly unable to feel the same pain he did. She was glad her mate seemed to forget where she came from. How used to this she was. She didn't say a word, since everything she thought to say could only make the situation so much worse. She just pushed her nose into his fur, comforting.
Hemitite frowned, shaking out his paw some. "I could've tried harder. Just don't think about it. The bodies will be taken back to our territory. Sol will find them eventually. He always does." He shrugged, offering some comfort. "He can't help it. Every single pup killed by the rest of the pack always ends up with him, and alive. He just revives them, raises them, and sends them off. If the pups were killed in an invasion, he'll send them back to their old pack." He nudged her, hoping she'd catch the hint. "You're immortal now, right? You have all the time to wait for their return."
Romeo sighed as he watched his two sons. His gaze was especially drawn to Dandre. He couldn't believe the Jasper-look-alike had survived. After all, Romeo himself had, in a way, killed the pup himself long ago. It was odd to see him now alive when his siblings were gone. "She knew better. She'll know now. They all know." He gently nuzzled them both, comforting.

"You did what you could." Mystic murmured softly. She didn't blame Hemitite. At the moment she had no energy to point fingers pin the blame. His words were comforting to some degree. Sol might be able to help them, if Bleaknight allowed it. And knowing him, he probably wouldn't. Though nothing could extinguish the pain in her heart. "Thank you."

Hemitite frowned deeper, just plunged into further uncomfortable by the fact that she refused to cheer up. He sighed, ducking his head and drawing back his ears. "...you have to get over it, Mystic." He sighed, quiet so no one else would hear. "The sooner you do, the sooner you can move on, and take care of the ones you have." A dark look crossed his features, and a soft growl entered his words. "You really want those other two to grow up with their mother only concerned for the lost ones?" There was a dark hint to his growl - it wasn't enough that the two pups looked like he and his brother; if Mystic spent all her time concerned for the killed pups, ignoring the other two, they would be raised in the same way too.

A soft growl erupted from Mystic's throat. "What do you know about losing a pup? Nothing!" Her words had little sting to them, however. She simply couldn't muster it towards the wolf who'd given her pups a fighting chance. Hemitite was right about one thing, however. She couldn't ignore Dandre and Starblood. The she-wolf got to her feet and padded over to her mate and sons. She didn't say anything to her pups, just sat and pulled them close and let them cry into her fur.
"It's ok, my little ones...I'm still here. Your papa's still here. We'll be ok..." she murmured.

Romeo quickly greeted her with a gentle nuzzle, moving to lean against her, so both their bodies sheilded the two surviving pups. They may have failed once with protecting them, but they wouldn't fail again.
Hemitite, meanwhile, glared coldly at Mystic. He couldn't believe he'd followed this naive, stupid pup. Loss was a part of being immortal, didn't she get that? He snorted, honestly a bit more offended than anything else. He'd sacrificed a lot to get them to be able to keep two of the pups, along with Mystic's own life and the lives of Magic and Juliet. But he'd have to go face the consequences - after all, he wasn't welcome here. He moved to his three good paws and started limping off, a soft growl still on his lips. Stupid Greenwoods.

"Where are you going? You think they'll let you back after you mauled their Beta?" Juliet called after Hemitite. She was silenced by a sharp bark from Mystic. Juliet sighed and looked at her parents and siblings. What Hemitite didn't understand that loss was always hard. Especially if only an hour or two before the lost wolves were running around, healthy and happy.
Mystic met her mate with a grateful nuzzle. It was good to feel his pelt brush against hers, smell his scent. Having both of their parents near seemed to help the crying pups as well.
"Mama...that...that red wolf looked like me." Starblood whimpered. "And he-" Starblood looked at Hemitite's retreating form. "-looks like Dandre. Is it our fault, Papa? We didn't mean to! We didn't!" The pups just didn't understand. They were hardly old enough to leave the den, much less understand what the term 'half-breed' meant.

Hemitite paused when Juliet called out. He turned to narrow his eyes at her, before sighing and motioning her over with a jut of his chin. Maybe he could explain to her what he could not explain to the distraught Mystic. Maybe Juliet would understand. She seemed a little more level-headed, at least.
Romeo sighed, nuzzling his mate, before turning to their pups. "It's okay, it's not your fault. It's his." He growled softly, glaring over at Hemitite. "You and Dandre did nothing wrong. And neither did your siblings." He leaned down, nuzzling them closely. He could explain, but not now. Not so soon.

"He tried, Romeo." Mystic protested quietly. But she wasn't going to debate whose fault it was. Not now, at least. She had to think of her two healthy pups. Mystic dipped her head down and nuzzled them. "None of you did anything wrong. You were all good, sweet pups. And we need you to keep being good, sweet pups. Can you?"
Starblood and Dandre nodded.
"There are my brave little warriors." Mystic murmured, smiling and licking the tops of their heads.
Juliet hesistated and glanced towards Magic. He nodded once to show that he'd be watching, just in case. Juliet padded over to him.

Romeo smiled down at his two pups. These two would be his life now. Hard to believe, when only recently, he'd wanted to kill them. "We'll protect you. Nothing will happen to you." He promised, nuzzling them, pretty much smothering them together with Mystic.
Hemitite shot one glare over at Magic before turning to Juliet. "You don't want me leaving? What else would I do? I'm far from welcome here..." He growled, glancing back over at Magic viciously.

Under normal circumstances the two pups would ave wriggled away from their parents, whining about looking dorky. After today's experince, however, the two accepted said smothering with grateful hearts. The two brothers would be glued at the hip from now on, like twins. It would be a bit before they would begin to feel safe without their parents near, as well.
"Well, you're my mother's kin. We can at least garuntee no one will rip your tail off." Juliet said, sitting down calmly. She glanced towards her brother. He was talking to Sootflare at the moment. "We can hardly hide anything now, given how Dandre and Starblood look."

Hemitite sighed, sitting down and curling his tail over his paws. "Yeah. Good luck with that." He sighed, watching Magic and his mate from afar. It was obvious how annoyed he was about Magic's 'stealing'.

Juliet smirked a bit, but didn't comment. "If you want to go back, fine. That's YOUR call. But you'll be remotely safe here, at least." She looked at her parents and brothers. Poor little Starblood and Dandre.

He frowned, but nodded, getting to his paws. He didn't like this. It could start up something really bad within the pack ((HINT)), but he'd go along with it for now. He'd rather stay then go back and be punished for what he'd done.

"Good. You can stay near the twoleg den at the edge of the territory. No one goes within miles of the place, so you'll have that area to yourself." Juliet said. Of course Hemmy wouldn't be sleeping in their dens. No one, not even his kin, trusted him that much. "We haven't seen the twoleg or dog in ages either, so they won't bother you. And since we don't hunt around there the prey will be enough for you."
