At least, he hoped it would be. The long legged, long-furred golden male kept a brisk pace as he crossed back into the dark lands that belonged to his black-furred brother. Sol has always been more kind and loving than his brother, but he always knew that Bleaknight was never truly a bad character. Just... misunderstood. Very much so.
Sol paused before a very large fallen tree, taking one leap to stand at the top and look behind him. He had tried to keep a pace that would be fast enough to not be too easy, but slow enough that the Greenwood pup he now had under his wing would be able to follow. If he wasn't as pampered as the rest of the Blackshadows believed his pack tended to be.
Sol had made a promise. That little Magic would be returned back to the Greenwoods within three months. He hoped he wouldn't have to break that promise. Seeing others suffer was hard on his warm heart, and he just hoped he could make Magic's time here as easy as possible. Although 'easy' was always hard to pull off here.

Magic was keeping up pretty well. Those countless days running with his parents and sisters around the dens were paying off. Magic trotted up to the log and stared up at Sol. These lands were full of such strange scents....in his territory, he knew every scent by heart. But here...he glanced around timidly. This would certainly be an adventure to tell his sisters about.
If he lived to tell it.
"What's your name?" Magic asked. He climbed up on to the log and looked around at the lands around him. Everything looked strange, smelled strange...

"Sol." The other replied, giving a shrug of his shoulders. He hadn't realized he'd forgotten to introduce himself. He sat down on the huge log and looked warmly down at the pup. "And you're Magic, correct?" He guessed, having heard the name from the previous action. It was hard for him not to hear those kinds of things; after all, he did have some un-naturally long ears, that easily picked up everything within a mile radias. He perked these ears up now, stirring the little tuft of fur they had at each tip. "I'm sorry about your parents."

Magic nodded. He looked up at the strange seeming wolf. He hopped off the log and watched, with dancing eyes, as a chipmunk ran out in front of him. But he dared not chase after it-wasn't that how he ended up in this mess in the first place. Magic sat down and sighed. "It's ok...I should have listened to Mama..." New, hot tears stung at Magic's eyes. He turned his face away from Sol. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to be back in his lands with his pack.
"I'm just stu...stupid." Magic whimpered. The poor little thing was scared and homesick and worried for his life. His father had been part of this pack...was that how he got those scars?

Sol's gaze softened and he moved to gently nudge Magic's shoulder, comforting. "We all make mistakes, little one. You've learned a wise lesson. Now we have to try and get you home." He smiled softly, hoping down from the tree and starting on the path again. "Are you hungry? We can hunt for something while you're here. You can't go home on an empty stomach." He tried to cheer, flicking his thick tail back at the pup. He didn't like seeing tears - they meant he was doing something wrong. He wasn't doing his job of keeping others from feeling sad.

Mystic remembered what his father told him as Sol nudged his shoulder. Be strong. Magic wiped at his eyes with paws that he hadn't quite grown into yet. He tried to think of this as one big adventure. Yes, like the ones in the stories! That cheered him right up. He had to take in everything so he could tell his family all about it. His sisters would be so amazed! At the mention of food, Magic's stomach growled audibly. Magic scurried to Sol's side.
"That'd be good...I am hungry." Magic admitted. He saw a grasshopper and crouched down. Magic eased closer to it, then leapt. He caught it under his front paws and wagged his tail. Of course, the ittle pup parted his paws and let the grasshopepr hop off to safety. Magic straightened up, pleased with his pounce. He hadn't learned to hunt yet, but he did have the makings of a fine hunter. Little Magic loved to chase the bugs and the chipmunks around the dens and pretend that he was a grown wolf hunting with the pack. But there was still that innocence, that light-hearted look in his eyes of someone that has not yet taken a life-in battle or for food.

Sol smiled softly down at him, trotting over. "Don't waste your energy. You're young, but often, Blackshadow pups are taught to hunt and kill within their first days of seeing." Sol told him without really thinking. Maybe knowing that others his age were far ahead in skill level would make him more keen to learn. Sol froze abruptly, perking his long ears. He flicked his tail to a plump rabbit not far away. Turning back to Magic, he whispered. "Go for that one. I want to see how you'd do it."

Magic was amazed. Pups younger than him were learning to hunt? When he saw the rabbit he narrowed his eyes. He thought about what his father and mother had told him about hunting. You have to stay downwind. Be as silent as possible. He approached the rabbit as silently as he could. Then he crouched, watching it closely. Then he jumped. He rabbit shot away. Magic gave chase, going as fast as his little legs could carry him. He got close enough and sunk his teeth into the rabbit's bottom. It kicked at him. It's claws raked across Magic's muzzle. He yelped and let go. But it was injured now. He easily caught up with it again. Magic ripped into the rabbit's throat until it finally stopped moving.
Makings of a hunter indeed! It was a sloppy kill. The rabbit was mangled and soaked with blood, unlike the fawns that Magic's father would drag into the dens for him and his sisters. Those fawns hardly ever had a scratch on them, aside from a well-placed bite to the throat. Magic was still proud, though. Perhaps those days spent chasing chimpmunks and crickets really did pay off!

Sol waited until the rabbit was dead to pace up and sit beside him. He bent forward and sniffed, but not the kill. Instead, he sniffed at Magic's snout injuries. He paused a moment before moving to lick the scratches. "Try to be more careful." As he leaned back the pain, however great, would fade, along with the scratches themselves. "Now eat. Don't let it go to waste."

Magic was taken aback by the wolf's concern. The cuts did sting. But not too greatly. Magic had received worse in other accidents. He nodded at Sol and began to eat. The little pup ate as sloppily as he killed. But his tail was wagging. This wasn't something that his pack had caught for him...he'd caught if for himself! That thought filled him with immense pride. And while Magic was ripping at the warm meat of the rabbit, Magic remembered someone else was with him. He looked up at Sol. "Don't you want any?"
He was used to sharing. Mostly with his sisters. They had to share food, a den...but he didn't mind it. He liked it. It made him feel closer to them.

Sol gave a shrug. "I'm fine. I've already eaten." He replied casually, flicking his tail absently as he watched the sky. He didn't seem to take any interest in the meat, actually. In fact, by the way his lip twitched occasionally, it almost seemed like the smell or soething about the meal disgusted him. But he made sure to try and keep whatever this odd reaction was hidden, keeping a cute smile on his lips and a bright look to his eyes as he rolled onto his back to watch the sky more. It relaxed him.

Magic noticed something a little strange. But, like all pups, he didn't bother to question why. He ripped at the meat and gulped it down hungrily. Pups were always hungry and always sloppy eaters. All the same, there were still leftovers. Magic nudged the remains towards Sol. Even if he didn't eat it, it was Magic's way of showing his thanks. Without Sol he would probably be dead by now. After showing Sol the remains Magic looked up at the sky through the trees.
"My sisters like to look at the clouds. They find pictures in them." Magic's voice held a hint of longing. His sisters were his best friends. He played with them, ate with them, explored with them, tussled with them...what would the pups here be like? Would he find any playmates among them? Magic sighed a little bit. "I like my sisters. They're my best friends. I love 'em." Magic suddenly realized just how worried they would be. Poor Juliet would be in hysterics! (She was always emotional.) Forest would be angry, he knew. Either angry at him for not taking her with him or angry at her parents for not demanding him back. Whichever one.

Sol smiled gently at the remnants pushed towards him, and just to be polite, he leaned down and started eating, but kept his eyes on Magic, curious. At the note of longing in the pup's voice, Sol flicked his ears back, guilty. He may have saved Magic's life, but he still didn't return him to his parents. He was doing a bad job. Once he finished the rabbit, he trotted over to sit beside the pup, flicking his tail around his forepaws. "I love my sister too. I haven't seen her for a really long time, because Brother really hates her, and I spend a lot of time with him. But she was nice. Really protective, and sometimes moody, but she was nice."

Magic listened and nodded. Juliet and Forest weren't rather protective. Moody, but weren't all she-wolves? Forest was a great exploring companion. She was always up for a tussle. At the same time she was very wise for their age. And very stubborn, at that. Juliet was different. She was cautious but logical. A breath of fresh air, you might say. Juliet was also tender and sweet, always willing to listen to a problem or concern. "Juliet's sweet. And Forest is great for an adventure." Magic smiled a bit. "Forest will be mad I didn't bring her along...she's always looking for adventure. And Juliet would be examining the territory and the wolves..."
Magic listened closely at the mention of Sol's brother. "Your brother...he's the Alpha, right?" Magci hesitated, but then blurted out, "Is he really immortal?"

Sol smiled sweetly down at him as he spoke of his sisters. But the smile turned sad at the mention of what they would want to do once they knew of where he went. "I'm glad neither of your sisters were the ones that strayed. Had Hemitite found them..." He gave a soft whimper, ducking his head. "It would not have been good. Much, much worse than with you. They would not have been spared as you were." He drew back his ears, eyes dulling faintly with thoughts he was glad Magic could not see.
At the mention of his brother, Sol was drawn back to reality, and he tilted his head at the curious pup. He was about to smile and nod to the first question when the second made him jump, startled. It wasn't that the question was so absurd... the thing was Sol had forgotten that not all wolves even knew immortality was possible, just disregarding it as legend. Suddenly drastically uncomfortable, he looked away, swishing his tail warily. But after a moment, he slowly answered. "...yes. To both." He tried to be careful, kneading his claws in the ground. "Most of the higher-ranking wolves in this pack are immortal. Brother gives them that. But they must prove themselves, and go through excruciating pain to achieve it."
