Sol nodded slowly, moving carefully over to pick up little Magic by the scruff. "He enjoys torturing them. He takes a sick thrill in it. No one in this pack really likes them." He paused a moment, hesitant. "...listen, we'll need to cross a clearing to get to my den. I need you to try and block out everything. Concentrate on just my scent, nothing else. Fold your ears back as tight as you possibly can, let no sound get in. And most importantly, don't open your eyes until I tell you to." Suddenly vastly uncomfortable, Sol kept bent low to the ground as he spoke, ears drawn back. And the faint scent of fear clung to his fur; fear that if Magic didn't follow these strict instructions... his view on life could never be innocent again. And Sol would return Mystic's pup in a scarred, damaged state.

Magic didn't understand what was so very scary about a clearing. There were plenty in his territory. It wasn't much for chasing prey, because they didn't like being out in the open. But it was a nice open space to play tag with his sisters in. Magic knew he had to obey Sol, however. If he wanted to survive. "O-Okay..."
Magic flattened his ears tightly against his head. The sounds of the forest were muffled suddenly. It felt strange to hear the singing birds and the sighing trees suddenly go silent. He squirmed uncomfortably at the silence. He squeezed his eyes closed tight, then suddenly felt very very alone. Magic felt as if he were left to die in this soundless, sightless world. But he could still smell! Magic remembered Sol's instruction to focus soley on his scent. One the pup had begun to do that, he felt a little comforted. He wasn't alone. Sol's scent suddenly seemed very reassuring, like a packmate's.

Sol gently aimed to lift the pup up, keeping his scruff in his mouth, tight so as not to drop him in any instance, but not too uncomfortable. Slowly, he moved out into the open.
At once, Sol's scent would be laden with fear, and other vastly uncomfortable emotions. The smell of blood was so strong here, it hurt the nose, and the screams... the screams were loud, and there were many, many in number. It was a good thing Magic couldn't see - this world here was stained with blood and rotting bodies, and purely amused Blackshadow wolves. Sol swiftly carried Magic, almost running, through a tight hole in the ground and out into an open, sweet smelling, pleasant place where there was no sound but muffled squeeks of prey. With a sigh, the long-legged wolf set down the pup, and when he opened his eyes, the wide, open den would be obvious. It was beautiful - with plants growing up the sides and glowing flowers across the 'roof'. It had pure tranquility when the area before was all blood.
(Sorry, have to go fast. xD)

Magic was going to ask Sol about that overpowering stench of blood. He couldn't block it completely, no matter how hard he tried to focus solely on Sol's scent. But once he saw the den, the little pup forgot about it quickly. Magic yipped with glee and wagged his tail. He breathed in the scents of the flowers and of the prey. "You live here? Woooow...."
Magic saw a squirrel scamper by. He yipped and chased after it, not really meaning to kill it. He chased it until it clambered up a tree. Then he sat and barked at it, his tail wagging furiously. When Magic got bored, he trotted back to Sol. This place was so peaceful and beautiful, he couldn't help but feel right at home. Magic was back to his usual self. The young pup crouched down in front of Sol, his rump sticking up in the air and his tail wagging. "Play?"

Sol's tail wagged seeing the pup so happy. The last area for him would be quickly forgotten and he would be able to move on. The older wolf crouched down, rump in the air, and let out a return bark, playful and inviting. He rarely had the chance to play with anybody - concerns were elsewhere in this pack. But right now, he could even forget the current problems about returning Magic safely home, and thus proceeded to hop sideways back and forth in that teasing, playful manner, making the movement extremely graceful and agile in a way that most would just look silly.

Magic growled playfully and yipped. For a moment he was just a care-free little pup who didn't know what shortage of prey or drought or war meant. He leapt at Sol and nipped at one of his ears. Magic's eyes sparkled happily. He would make his pack very proud one day, that was easy to see. He was curious, brave, and had the makings of a hunter. Did Sol know that this little life, this whole pup's future, rested in his paws? Because at the moment, Magic seemed oblivious to that fact.
"Grr! I'm gonna get you!" Magic teased. "I'm the leader of GreenWood! I'm gonna get you! Heehee!"

Sol laughed at the pup's playfulness, racing across the clearing away from him. "Oh, please, Alpha, have mercy..." He begged playfully, but in no way sarcastic or cruel. He was just playing along, even going so far as to roll onto his back and tuck his tail, although that bright, happy smile remained on his face, ears perked. And although his tail stayed against his belly, it quivered happily and struggled to wag. The troubles were unknown to him for now, as his only concern was making little Magic happy.

Magic chased after him, laughing joyfully. Her set his paws on Sol's belly and grinned. "Grrr...got ya!" He threw his head back and howled. But as he was young, it sounded more like high-pitched yipping. Magic didn't seem to notice. His tail was wagging a mile a minute. He jumped off of Sol and crouched down again playfully. "Come and get me!" The pup hopped from side-to-side. He barked jorfully, his eyes sparkling. It was clear that Magic was full of energy of bursting with life. He darted at Sol and nipped on his shoulder, then raced away from him through the clearing. "Tag! You're it! Heehee!"

Sol immedietely dashed after the young pup, pearls of laughter echoing around the clearing. Having never had any pups of his own (nor ever having any female interested in him long enough for the very idea to be formed), Sol was very happy taking advantage of the idea while he could. He would very much like to return with Magic to visit the Greenwood pack, maybe stay with them for a while. It would be a pleasant break from what happened in his brother's pack. The long-legged golden wolf paused before catching the pup, abruptly curious. "Do you think I could stay with your pack after we get this all settled? Just for a while..." He frowned softly, thinking over the possibly bad situations that could happen. He had no doubt that coming in with Blackshadow scent on him would get him several glares from any pack. He didn't expect the Greenwoods would be any different.

Magic paused. He sat down and tilted his head thoughtfully. "Well, my papa was a Blackshadow. He left to be with my mama. I dun think you'd be an different." Magic's tail wagged at that idea. Sol would fit right in, once he got Blackshadow's stench off of him. "My family would like you."

Sol smiled sweetly, having forgotten that Romeo had been a part of their pack. The memory brought a frown to his lips, recalling the things the young male had had to do to be initiated fully into adulthood. Things his son didn't need to know. Things that if he did, when he went home, he would not be able to look his father in the eye again. Knowing the torture he'd had to both endure and deal out would be difficult to swallow. "I'll talk to brother. We'll arrange something."

Magic wagged his tail again. Sol was practically born a Greenwood! (Even if Magic was pretty sure his pack had been started long after his birth.) He was so kind and gentle. Plus it would be a chance for Magic to return the favor. He could escort Sol to his den and show him all of his favorite places to chase prey and play.
"Go talk to him!" he urged happily. "You'll love it! You could meet my mama, and my sisters!" His sisters would adore Sol. With his age, he was bound to have enough stories to keep them captivated for moons.

Sol smiled broadly, standing and moving to the exit to the blood-stained outer clearing... only to find it blocked.
The massive, incredibly huge black wolf blocking the way was barely a wolf - he looked like a bear at first. But he had a certain graceful, fit, intellegent air to him so that he didn't just look like a big brute. This wolf was smart, and as those blood-red eyes found Magic, a curved, blood-stained grin split his muzzle.
"Well, well, well..." He purred silkily, voice not voice booming, but certainly deep as he padded over. "If it isn't the half-blood pup... from Mystic's litter, if I'm not mistaken." Bleaknight crept closer and closer to the pup, tail wagging. There was a hidden intent there in his glowing gaze, the kind that made some scream of terror.

Magic gulped audibly. This was certainly the fearsome Blackshadow Alpha. Magic bowed his head in respect and put his tail between his legs. He stared at the grass beneath his paws. Half-blood? No one had ever called him that before! He glanced nervously up at the Alpha, trying very hard not to let his fear show. Magic was failing. He was trembling from head to tail. He wasn't sure whether to speak or not. He spoke candidly with his grandfather. This was because he was of a close relation to him, and he was still a pup. Rules could be bent for them occasionally.
This wolf, however...Magic's ears flattened against his skull.

Before too much time could pass, Sol brushed against Magic and stood tall, glaring at his older, darker brother. "He needs to go home, Brother. He trespassed only a quarter mile into our lands. He's learned his lesson. Now let him go." Sol's voice was firm now, almost commanding. Bleaknight grinned fully, eyes dancing. "Maybe... for a trade. I wouldn't mind having pretty little Mystic under my command..."
