Magic looked at Sootflare. "You need to rest your leg a bit. Go lay down in one of the dens." Magic nodded to the clusters of dens before them. Suddenly Juliet and Forestheart ran up, eyes dancing.
"There you are Magic! You won't believe what Forest and I...who is this?" Juliet asked curiously. She looked at Sootflare and sniffed her a bit. "She smells like Blackshadow."

Soot drew her ears back, turning away from them and into one of the dens. She hesitated at the entrance, however, glancing back at Magic. She would really like to curl up with him in the welcoming den, but seeing as these two females were his obvious sisters and they seemed to have some catching up to do, she slowly decided to sleep alone for now. She curled up in the deepest corner of the den and closed her eyes, just trying to find some thoughts that wouldn't give her nightmares.

Magic watched Sootflare go lay down and briefly explained to his sisters who she was. The three hurried off together and returned later in the afternoon, laughing and talking. Magic looked around hopefully, wondering if Sootflare was awake now.

She was, but still curled in the corner. She was slightly depressed-looking, but in a thoughtful kind of way, not just wallowing in dread. Something was bugging her. She still wanted to know why Magic would even bother taking her back, really. What was the point...? He didn't even seem that interested in her at all... Besides nuzzling the hell out of her. And that just seemed kind of awkward for some reason.

Magic walked into the den, tail wagging hopefully. He smiled at Sootflare. "Sootflare...my sisters and I are going to snag a rabbit or two. Do you wnt to come with us?" Magic truly liked Sootflare. She was so young-seeming, yet so wise at the same time.

She glanced up, ears flicking forward. Slowly, she got to her paws, nodding. "Sure. But you'll have to teach me." She grinned, rather sheepishly. "I've never actually hunted a day in my life. I hope I don't ruin it for you." She padded forward, outside, stretching out her very young, still pup-like-in-some-ways body, before turning back to him. She honestly wondered if his sisters even liked her. Or ever would. She kind of doubted it, for some reason.

Magic's eyes sparkled. "Never hunted? That's ok...we'll teach you." He looked at his sisters. "Oh yes...Sootflare, these are my sisters. Juliet..." Juliet grinned. "...and Forestheart." Forest smiled shyly and nodded once. "Just stick with us...you'll learn fast, I'm sure."
"We know a meadow where the rabbits usually are." Juliet said. "This time of year, there'll be plenty."

Soot nodded, keeping close to Magic, using him as her personal source of comfort. "Okay... well, lead the way, I guess." She offered, keeping at least brushed up against Magic to keep herself calm in the unfamiliar lands.

Juliet trotted ahead, perfectly happy to take the lead. Forest walked slowly behind Magic and Sootflare, her head bowed slightly. They reached a small, cheerful meadow. Juliet's tail began to wag.
"Now the trick with catching rabbits is that you have to be quiet and fast. Magic." Juliet spoke quietly. She nodded her head towards the meadow. Magic moved forward quietly, his footsteps barely making any sound. He saw a rabbit and quickly locked on to his target. Before it knew what was happening, Magic had it in his jaws. Dead. "See, Sootflare?"

She drew her ears back, uncomfortable. "Okay..." She crouched down, trying to mimic Magic's pose and creep forward. However, the rabbit was gone before she made a move, and she let out a feirce growl of irritation. She knew she was making a lot more noise than Magic was, but she couldn't sit still and silent like he could. She sat down a moment, looking around, before spotting another one. This time, she just took off after it, disappearing into the brush. She came back soon, dropping the rabbit before them. Their way was great for them, but she preferred just going for it.

"Nice catch." Juliet said approvingly. She nudged the rabbit and wagged her tail. "See, Sootflare? It's not that hard. After all, hunting is in your blood." She looked at her brother. "Hm...I think we should take one back to Mother. That old injury in her foot was acting up this morning...I'll catch it." Juliet darted off and soon returned with a rabbit.
Forest lifted her snout and sniffed. She furrowed her brow and sniffed again, this time closer to Sootflare. Her eyes sparkled in recognition. "Oh, that's right...you're from Blackshadow. You must have been around that one wolf too, right? Magic always has a bit of his scent on him...he's worried about the border, you know..." Forest laid her ears back suddenly, as if she said something wrong.
"That would be Hemitite. Lovely wolf." Magic grumbled sarcastically.

Soot drew her ears back tight, stepping back some from Forest, highly uneasy. "Yes. I'll imagine I'll smell like him for a while. Sorry if it bugs you." She added, a little more sarcastic than it should've been. She'd figured going into a new pack would help her forget and the others wouldn't bring up bad memories like Hemitite. Looks like it would follow her for a while.
Soot stepped away from them, heading back over to the dens. She would have to find her own secret spot soon - she wanted a place where she could be alone. She'd had one in the Blackshadow pack... before Hemitite had found it and had one of the other gifted wolves in the pack burn it to the ground. Hopefully, the same wouldn't happen in this pack.

Forest recoiled as if Sootflare had struck her. She hadn't meant to offend. "I'll...take the rabbit to Mother." Forest hurried off, the rabbit in her jaws.

Soot paused at the end of the clearing, hesitating. She found as she thought about it, that the last thing she wanted right now was to be alone. As incredibly radical as it was that her moods switched so fast. After a moment, she left out a soft whimper-howl, calling softly to Magic, but in the same way letting him know that he didn't need to come. She just longed for his company.

Magic, thinking something was wrong, hurried to her. He approached her, ears back and eyes concerned. "What's wrong, Soot?"
((Gah, uber short...))
