Mystic sat out early in the morning, staring up at the sky. It was sunrise and the sky was a beautiful mix of day and night. Starlight and sunrays, mixed together. A rush of autumn wind went by and she let out a contented sigh. She loved all things beautiful, whether it be a sunrise or a colorful flower.
All around her, there was beauty. The leaves were changing colors. Red, yellow, orange, brown, and purple clung to the trees surrounding her. As the breeze went by, a few more leaves were whisked off of their branches and on to the forest floor. Mystic wagged her tail. The young pup, still so naive and new to the world, had never seen this type of beauty before. And it was clear she was enjoying it.
"So pretty." Mystic said aloud, wagging her tail slightly.

Trotting along the autumn trail, Starfrost didn't seem to notice the pup until the last minute. Then he grinned, dark, night-blue eyes glittering as he lay down beside her. He had just been running around the borders with a patrol and had allowed the others to finish the rounds while he paced about a bit. He smiled warmly at the young pup, then up at the changing leaves. "Beautiful, isn't it?"(Hmm... if nothing else, he could be her father. Up to you.)

((That would be fine!))
Mystic managed to tear her eyes away from beauty to look at him. She grinned back, her tail wagging upon seeing him. Mystic was fond of pretty much everyone in her pack, especially her father. A big daddy's girl, you could say.
"Yeah...really really prettyful!" she said, smiling happily. She looked back at the trees and the sky. "What makes the leaves like that? Are they sick?" The entire forest being sick was a horrid concept, but if it died so beautifully, then she wouldn't mind it as much.

"Hmm..." Starfrost paused, thinking as he looked up at the leaves. "The way I was once told was that the trees know of the cold that will come. But most trees can't stand it, so, like bears, they will sleep for the cold moons. But, quite unlike bears, the trees' version of sleeping is dying almost completely every winter. But when the spring comes, they will grow again, as grateful as we for the new warmth." Well, he tried to be a good story-teller. He simply hoped it would be good enough for his daughter. He didn't want to dissapoint.

By the look on Mystic's face, she didn't seem to disappointed. In fact, she was grinning happily with her tail wagging away.
"Really? So the trees are just getting ready to take a nap!" the young pup said. She looked at her father, still grinning. "We should tell them a bed time story, so they'll sleep better! Do ya think that'll make 'em happy?"

Starfrost grinned, giving her a nod. "Yes, that's a wonderful idea. Would you tell them one? I'm sure they would love to hear one more from you than me." He leaned forward, aiming to bump her forward some, closer to the trees.

Mystic was bumped forward and she looked at the trees. They seemed to be waiting, like they actually knew she was going to tell a story. She grinned and sat down. "Ok...once upon a time...there was a wolf...named...uh...Starfrost!" She looked back to grin at her father. "And he lived in a pretty green forest. But one day, the rain stopped coming. And the pretty green forest started to die."
Mystic paused and thought for a moment. Then she continued. "Starfrost didn't want his pretty home to dry up, or for his pack to have to leave their pretty home. So he went out and searched and searched for water. But then he found a beaver dam that was blocking the river. He ran and told his family and they all talked to the beavers and they took the dam down together. Then the water started flowing again and everyone lived happily ever after!"
The little pup grinned. "Now, sleep tight!"

Starfrost grinned, listening intently to every word before laughing queitly at the end. "That was a very good story. I'm sure they would love to hear another next year. Would you be up to it?" Heehee.

Mystic turned to her father and nodded.
"I'll have a better one next year!" the wolf pup said. The young wolf pup then attempted to playfully pounce on her father. "I hope the trees will be as pretty as this when they wake up!"

Starfrost laughed, falling to his back as if thrown back by her pounce. "Oh, not in the same way, I suppose. But they are beautiful. Their leaves are such a bright, almost glowing green..." He smiled, licking her cheek. "Well, you'll see in time."

Mystic smiled. "I can't wait! I've never seen the trees wake up before!" She looked at the sky. "Hey, Papa, when I'm big can I go on a patrol with you?" She looked at her father again. "I never been far from the dens before. I wanna see the whhooollllle forest."

Starfrost chuckled, putting a paw over her. "How about we go on a small one now? A practice patrol a little farther from the dens, okay? Then, when the trees wake up again, you can come with me on a real patrol. Sound good to you?" He offered, eyes dancing with love for his daughter.

"Really?!" Mystic said, ears raising in surprise. Her eyes sparkled with happiness and delight. Quickly, she let her father up and jumped into the air, trying to express her happiness. She crouched playfully and wagged her tail. "Lets go! Come on Papa, lets go!"
