Soot chuckled, leaning down to touch noses wih her beloved daughter. "Of course, hun. I can't explain it as poetically as your father can, but rest assured, I do." She licked her nose, playful. Malikite grinned, glancing over at his sister, tail wagging fast now. But he didn't want to stay and talk about sappy stuff like that. He wanted to go out and explore. He looked around, curious now. He'd heard about how his father had been kidnapped one time. Almost killed! He wanted to go on an adventure like that.

((The proof is in the pudding. He's Magic's boy, alright! XD))
Magic chuckled. Having two sisters rubbed off on you. He got to his feet, sensing his son's eagerness. It was that same adventurous spirit that made wolves great. If they lived long enough, however. They had to learn caution. "Hm...Soot, why don't we take the little ones on a small patrol? They need a little adventure, I think." They wouldn't take them as far as the borders, of course. Perhaps they could take them to the heart of the territory and show them which directions which land lay. But of course, it would only happen if their mother agreed. He looked at Soot for her answer. If she decided against it, he had a backup plan. Fathers always did.

((XDDD I should type you up a thing about how Hemitite acted when he was a kid. The resemblances between those two are incredible!))
Soot nodded. "You go ahead. I'm going to go hunt some more for the pack." She ducked her head to them before starting off, relaxed. Much different than when she first came in the dens.
Mali blinked up at his Dad, suddenly frowning. "Will we get to see the Blackshadow border?" He asked, having obviously not forgotten Dart's words. He was drastically curious.

Magic smiled a little at his son. "No, not today. When you're older, perhaps." He began walking towards the heart of their territory. Song got to her paws and bounded after him, eagerness shining in her eyes. Magic couldn't help but smile. His pups were like him-wide-eyed and curious. Brave and easily excited. According to Sootflare, that's exactly how Hemitite had been. It was how his mother had been. How he had been. Did the trait run in the bloodline?
"My father came from Blackshadow, you know." Magic told his pups. "But he came here so he could be with my mother. Your grandmother." It was hard to picture his mother as a grandmother, still. When he pictured 'grandmother' he pictured an elder. Not the young, fully capable she-wolf she was now.

Malikite pouted and sat right back down. "I don't wanna go." He sniffed and turned his head away, inwardly upset at his father. What made him think he couldn't go over to the border? Did he think he'd run over to the other side like the rest of the pack did? His soft puppy fur was poofed out, indignant, as he got to his paws and started away in the opposite direstion, tail high. He wanted to talk to somebody who would talk back, and really talk, explain things to him. He wished Sol was here - he'd heard stories about how honest the story-teller had been. But he'd left. Why had Sol and Forst been able to go over that border and he couldn't even go near it? It wasn't fair.

Magic sighed a little. He hurried after his son, catching up easily. Song blinked, then followed at a slower pace. "Mali, listen to me. The border isn't a place you want to go. You have to be curious...I was too. Wolves from their side are always darting in, looking for anybody that gets too close. Why do you think your grandmother has a limp? Or Avanlanche has that scar on his side?" Magic knew he was lucky to have escape from their territory scot-free. He didn't want his pups going anywhere near the border. What if someone saw Mali? Hemitite might try to kill him, for all they knew! "If something happened to one of you..." Magic shook his head. How could he make his son understand? It wasn't that he did not trust his son. Or his daughter for that matter. It was because he was worried for them.

Malikite paused, drawing his ears back. After a moment, he let out a sigh. "Yeah... I get it." He accepted, but didn't seem all that happy to do so. He still wanted over there. Just to see. "But Mom said they only came over at night. What if we go now, in the middle of the day? And you'll be there to protect us." He glanced back at him, frowning. He wanted to see what Dart was talking about. He was so curious!

"Many have been known to be up and about during the day." Magic admonished. But he had to admit, it wouldn't be too dangerous. If somone yearling, or even Hemitite himself, were up, Magic would be there. He would much rather be there to protect the two of them rather than have them running off on their own. He sighed. "Alright. We'll go. But the both of you have to do EXACTLY as I say. understood?"
"Understood!" Song chirped.

Mali's eyes brightened, and he nodded, tail wagging now. He'd show Dart! He'd show her he wasn't like that evil wolf in the stories! He turned tail and started towards the direction he knew the border was, from times the other wolves snapped at him the most. He held his tail high, confident, longer legs inherited from his grandmother eating up the ground. This was gonna be great!

Song kept pace with her brother easily, and Magic led the way. He smiled at his son's eagerness. Someday, Malikite would make his pack proud. Song looked at her brother, her tail wagging with excitement.
"Papa, what happened when you went to Blackshadow?" Song asked.
Magic paused. "Nothing, really. Their Captain tried to trick my mother into thicking I was dead, but I sort of ruined that plan. They took me back over the border and Sol watched after me." He was trying to downplay his adventure as much as possible. Didn't want to give the pups ideas.

"But why didn't they hurt you?" Malikite looked up at his father, curious. "If they kill and hurt and all... how did you get away so easily?" His eyes gleamed with curiousity, as he shot a glance over at his sister, wondering if she shared his vast curiousity over the matter.

Song was staring at her father, curiousity shining in her eyes. Yup. She was.
"Sol protected me. He's Bleaknight's younger brother. So no one bothered me because he never left my side." Magic replied. "After that he came to live with us...you two would have loved his stories." Sol had a lot of them, for sure. He had enough stories to keep his pups captivated until they were old enough to have pups of their own.

Mali grinned. "Maybe we'll see him and Forest." He laughed, sprinting ahead of the ground. He wanted to see Sol. He wanted to see his Aunt Forest. Maybe he could surprise her! He dashed ahead, far ahead, before abruptly pausing. Something smelled funny. He paused and glanced back, slowly trying to trace his way back. "Dad!"((Uh-ohz! ))

Song had followed her brother, his excitement spreading like wildfire. She wanted to see her aunt for the first time, or meet this Sol wolf. She stood beside her brother and looked around, eyes wide. "Mali...please, please tell me you know where we are...."

Noticing his sister's reaction, Mali forced himself into a perfectly calm mask. He had to keep level-headed, so his sister wouldn't freak. "No." He smiled at her, reassuring, as he gently nuzzled her. "We can't howl for Dad, because we might've come into another territory. But we can't move anywhere, because we might just stray deeper. So we'll stay right here, and wait for someone to notice us."
