Song nodded and planted herself firmly on the ground. But would the right wolves notice them? She'd heard stories about the fearsome Alpha of Blackshadow...suddenly a rustling noise emerged from the brush. Song tensed.
A yearling female strode out, her eyes curious. She resembled Songheart, only stockier. "Oh...that's what it is!" The female suddenly seemed to realize who these two were and let out a happy yelp. "You must be Song and Mali! I'm your Aunt Forest!" Forest paused. "...what're you two doing here? Don't you know you're in Blackshadow territory?" On the outskirts, yes. But Blackshadow all the same.

Mali grinned at his sister, eyes bright. Then he turned his attention to Forest, locking those intense eyes on her. "That's us. Dad brought us over, but we ran off." He paused, glancing back at his sister before back at Forest. "I ran off. It's myfault we're lost."

"Well, there's a silver lining." Forest said, smiling. "I finally got to meet my niece and nephew!" She licked each of their foreheads, tail wagging. "I'm just sad Sol is sleeping. He's been wanting to meet you since Juliet came over with the knews." Juliet had recently brought other news in regards to their true grandfather. Forest had been expecting Malikite's appearance, but it wouldn't have bothered her anyways. He was her nephew, after all!
"Why aren't you asleep?" Song asked, tilting her head to one side.
"You can take the wolf away from the sun, can't take the sun away from the wolf." Forest replied. She wasn't used to the whole nocturnal thing. Not yet, at least.

Mali frowned, looking around. Something bothered him. A scent he just barely caught. He didn't really listen in to what they were saying. He started wandering off towards the smell, curious. Unknowing what horrors his true father, and great-grandfather, would spell for him. He just didn't know the scent, and it bothered him.

"...Mali? Mali!" Song hurried after her brother. She smelled it, too. Forest sniffed the air and her eyes widened. The she-wolf's eyes widened, and she leapt in front of Mali and Song. "You two need to get back to Greenwood. A few of the others here like to stay out during the day." Forest hadn't really made a name for herself here. The only reason why she wasn't covered in scars was because she was Sol's mate. "Now let's go." There was a serious edge in her voice. Intimidating, almost. Her origins showing through.

Mali paused, sighing as he trotted back to her, ears drawn back. He hated being ordered around. But he'd listen, for now. But what made his aunt so special anyway? What made her capable of ordering him around like that? He ducked his head, eyes dark as he trotted back, ears drawn tight to his skull.

"I wonder what possessed Magic to let you come, anyways. You would think that after what happened..." Forest didn't continue. She began to lead the two back to the border, glancing around warily and occasionally sniffing the air. It was obvious she didn't trust her new packmates. "The Blackshadow are keen on pup snatching. Especially females." She looked at Song, who bowed her head.
"Do you think Daddy will be mad?" Song murmured to Mali.

"They'd never catch Song." Mali growled, defensive of his sister as he moved closer to her. But at her question, he blinked. "Of course not. He wandered off himself when he was young. Besides, if he is mad, he won't be mad at you. It was my fault." He shrugged, affectionattely licking her cheek. He glanced up at Forest and continued to follow her, sniffing to see if he could catch his father's scent.

"Don't be too sure, Mali. The Blackshadow wolves are very stronge." Forest admonished. "Do not underestimate them. Even your Aunt Juliet would have trouble with one of their more capable wolves."
Song smirked in disbelief. She licked Malikite's cheek in return, tail wagging. "Why did you come to live here anyways, Aunt Forest?"
"When you fall in love, young one, you'll know." Forest chuckled. They reached the border and crossed. Forest sniffed the air. Her tail began to wag. "Oh, good. Magic is near." The she-wolf barked. Soon enough, Magic came racing towards them. He paused to catch his breath and make sure his pups wee uninjured. Then he nuzzled them both, licking their foreheads.
"Thank goodness! You two worried me to death and back!" he said.

Mali glared back into the shadows, ears drawn back. He would never let those monsters take his sister. Not ever. But when his father came back, he felt comfort, but mixed with strong annoyance. He lifted a paw to shove his dad's muzzle away, growling softly. "Dad, cut it out! We're fine."

Magic couldn't help it. He was a father, for crying out loud! Son welcomed his comforts. Girls weren't ever as embarassed by parental affection as boys were. Magic had been the same exact way.
"Don't ever do that again!" Magic said firmly, but not unkindly. "You worried me to death!"
Song nuzzled her father, tail wagging. "We're sorry, Daddy."

Mali didn't reply, glaring at the ground stubbornly. He didn't want to admit that even a small part of him had been scared, for even a second. He couldn't. He had to stay calm, for his sister. She needed to know how he would always be there for her, and would always be strong enough, and brave enough to protect her, no matter what. He moved to slip away from his father and pace back to camp, tail high. He could take whatever was thrown at him. He was strong enough.

"Ah, good! You found them." Avalanche padded up with his mate and daughter not far behind. The family had been taking a stroll of their own when they'd found Magic frantic and looking for his pups. He nodded once to Forest, who wagged her tail. Avalanche had always been close friends with their mother, and in turn with the pups.
"You have a pup of your own, I see." Forest said, padding closer to get a better look at her. "White as snow, with such pretty long legs! Avalanche, Cinder, she's beautiful!"
Dart simply bowed her head in respect and murmured her thanks. She glanced at Mali and Song, wondering what in the world possessed them to run off.

Mali glanced at Dart and his fur instantly started standing on end. His gold-green eyes narrowed and he silently growled at her before moving off. He didn't trust her since they'd first met and still didn't like the idea of her company much. He slunk off into the thicker woods, hoping to find someplace he could hide from the rest of the pack.

Song glanced at Dart, then at her brother's retreating form. She said a quick goodbye to her aunt and hurried after her brother. Songheart didn't really like Dart, either. The feeling seemed to be mutual, since she snorted and asked for permission to go back to the dens. Her father permitted her and Dart began heading back.
"Mali! Mali wait up!" Song yipped.
