"Or maybe you two just aren't right for each other." She suggested, and as she spoke, Sundew glanced over, pricking her ears in curiousity. "Sometimes, even though you love someone, they aren't your 'one and only'. They're just one more heartbreak on the way there."

"Perhaps." Donovan said. But he couldn't abandon her. They were the Alphas now. Starfrost had asked Donovan to watch after the pack, and take care of Sunstorm. If they were just two wolves...well, it would have been over a long time ago. But they weren't. They were tied together by Starfrost's dying wish. Whether they liked it or not.

"Hmm..." Lily glanced at Sun, ears perked. The two shared a look, thoughtful; as much as they knew this male before them had tried to condemn their family to death, it might to beneficial to help him out a little. The 'braver' twin glanced back at Donovan. "Why don't you take a break? Act like single wolves for a little bit. You know, jealousy usually works better than any show of affection." She winked, wagging her tail a bit. "So let her go for a few months or something. You'll still act as Alphas, but sometimes, it's nice to just step back for a bit."

Donovan shrugged. He wasn't exactly going to leap at the chance to take advice from two wolves he'd never even met before. In his mind though, he was considering it. Sometimes he even hated his mate. Like when she said that the majority of their pups had drowned. If she'd just kept them in Greenwood, they would still be alive today. Instead she wanted to spite him, and took their children to Blackwood. In turn, she doomed them.

((*beats Sunstorm's commentary back with a stick* XD))
The two glanced at each other again before shrugging, laying their heads down in unison. But before she closed her eyes to sleep, Lily glanced up at him with a grin. "If you want to consider it, me and my sister are great actors. We can play as your other interest to make her jealous."

Donovan blinked at them. It seemed like a catty game to play. And he had a feeling Sunstorm would want to play it right back. It would be a reckless, irresponsible thing to do. Yet some part of him was considering it. "Perhaps. It seems a bit too...juvenile, though." Seeing another she-wolf just to get another one angry? That was a yearling stunt.

She laughed lightly. "But it works. Trust us, we've done it before." She winked, playful. "sometimes, you gotta step down from being mature or you'll never solve your problems."

Donovan just shook his head. It didn't seem right to him. And he also wasn't going to just trust these two strangers that seemed to appear right out of nowhere. Especially if they'd been raised in Blackshadow. You could never trust a Blackshadow wolf. "Let me think on it."

She nodded and rested her chin against the ground again, closing her eyes and slipping into sleep. Sundew was already asleep. They seemed to trust him just fine. They were, in fact, sleeping in his camp, despite the fact that they didn't know him at all.

Donovan didn't go to sleep for a bit. Even as a pup he'd like to stay up and look at the stars. Plus he was wondering if Sunstorm would be back. Finally he closed his eyes and let himself go to sleep. Donovan wasn't nocturnal, after all.

By morning, the twins had migrated a little closer to him, seeking warmth in the night. But they still stayed far off, curled around each other. When Sundew woke, always being the first to wake, she woke with the realization that they might be in trouble when they got back. She got to her paws, quiet, and looked around.

Donovan was at the other end of the camp, eating a freshly caught rabbit. It seemed that no one was up yet. There were a few little yips of pups as they tried to wake their parents, but it was to no avail. It seemed that they were the only three awake at the moment.

Sun paced over to him, moving to sit beside him, gentle. "Um... may I have a bite?" She asked shyly, dipping her head, ears, and tail in submission to him. Typically, she wasn't nearly this shy. But she figured she ought to act like it.

Donovan looked up. He looked her over briefly. After considering it briefly, he nudged the rabbit towards her. He licked his own maw. Dark red blood stained his silver and black fur. "Go ahead."

she bowed her head politely to him, leaning down and taking a few delicate bites of the rabbit, tail wagging. But only after a few, she leaned back up and smiled at him. "thank you very much." She again dipped her head in respect and moved to pad off into the woods. Just like that.
