Forest stepped backwards and coughed a bit. Two-legs smelled horrible! Ink hurried forward at the sound of his two-leg's call. He paused at one point and looked back at them. "Do you want me to bring you back some food...?" How can anyone like living off of deer?
"Of course not!" Forest growled. She shook her head. "Go. And make sure it stays away from our dens."
Ink ran off, feeling sort of grateful to be away.

Once he was gone, Sol gently nudged Forest and headed back to their territory. "I'll be glad if I never have to smell human stench again." He sighed, plopping down at the border, sprawling out on his side. It was very comfortable in the dappled sunlight...

Forest sat down beside him and licked at her paws anxiously. The two-leg stench was clinging to her still. How did Ink stand to live with it? "Clara. What a strange name." She referred to the name Ink called his two-leg. "Everything about them is strange..."

He gave a shrug. "Of course it is. They're very different from us." He rolled over to her to gently lick her paws in a rather playful manner. "Whay does it matter, as long as they leave us alone?" It was one thing coming from he who already knew a lot about them.

Forest smiled, her ears laid back. "I guess you're right." She glanced back in the direction where Ink had gone. "It's strange to think that he comes from wolves like us. He looks so...different."

"It's because once humans see something that may be a defect in the wild, but is appealing to them, they find other dogs that have that trait, and breed them. Whether they want to be mates or not." He rolled onto his back, watching the trees in the wind. "That's why most dogs have several mates, because humans want to breed as many of those qualities as they can."

Forest's eyes widened. "And he lives with one of them?" She shook her head. Forest looked at Sol. Her ears flattened against her skull. "Sol...can I...can I ask you something? You don't have to answer, if you don't want to..."

He glanced up at her, abruptly curious. "What is it?" He was worried, with the way she was asking, and scooted closer to her, gently nuzzling her reassuringly to coax her into being a llittle more relaxed.

"How did you get your powers to begin with?" Forest blurted out. "And immortality, for that matter?" Forest wasn't really looking for such powers herself...rather, she was just curious. Was he born with them? Had they been granted to him by magic?

He smiled warmly at her, giving a light shrug. "My brother and I were born with powers. Our father had powers. He made our mother immortal, and it passed down to us. Our older sister had immortality, but no real powers. Both my brother and I can give immortality, and powers if need be, to those who ask." He frowned, abruptly, worried that he'd said too much. Of course he'd like to make the Greenwood wolves immortal, but... there was just a lot that one gave up for it.

Forest tilted her head to one side. A wiser wolf, or maybe a more devious one, would instantly ask for immortality. But Forest wasn't like that. She was simply wondering what it was like to live forever. "Do you know where your parents got it?"

He should his head. "I'm not allowed to be curious over that." He gave a shrug, rolling back onto his side, leaning heavily on her side now, pressed up against her completely. "We left our parents before I can remember. Everytime I asked Brother why afterwards, he would get very snappy and short-tempered, very unlike his usual calm self. He really hated our mother for some reason, so I never ask." He moved to gently lay his head atop hers, tail moving to catch hers. Really, he just really wanted a lot of contact at the moment.

Forest's ears flattened. She'd never met Bleaknight. But Magic had. Or at least, their mother had thought so. When Magic was returned home, he'd often wake up complaining of nightmares about a wolf with red eyes.
"You talk about him as if..." Forest began. Her voice trailed off, and she didn't finish her sentence. Finally she sighed and said, "Greenwood knows a very different Bleaknight."

Sol nodded, frowning softly. "That's true. He constantly potrays himself as connected to many... cruel things." He let out a sigh, nuzzling her gently. "But often, he doesn't actually do most of it. He just lets others do it. True, he doesn't have much mercy, or compassion, or much care at all for others. But do not think he doesn't have reason to act like that. He's been through a lot in his years. Every time I would be hurt, he takes the blow for me. And after thousands of years, those blows start to add up." He let out a soft whimper, eyes saddened by the eventual loss of the older brother he once loved for being a selfless, brave wolf. "He used to be a lot like Magic, actually." Sol commented idly.

Forest jerked involuntarily. Not really at the nuzzle (Though it did make her blush) but at the comment. She pictured Magic how he was now. Brave, spirited, loving...she gulped. How could Bleaknight ever have been like her brother? "R-Really?"
