Once Ink was in the camp, Sol turned and raced back to the borders. He knew coming back so soon would just get him in more trouble, and he knew Forest could handle the situation on her own once they were in the camp. So it was time for him to head back, and wait and see if Forest came back to snuggle after the dog was gone.
Starfrost came up to his granddaughter, frowning deeply at the intruder she'd brought in. "Who, or what, is this? Why is he here?" He asked, rather coldly up front. Fear for his pack's safety over-ruled welcome for intruders.

"This is Ink...he is a...dog." Forest answered. She noticed he was trembling, his tail tucked in between his legs. "I...I don't think he meant to trespass. He seems to know nothing of our ways." Forest noticed other wolves were staring now. Juliet and Magic among them. "But...he says he's living in the forest with a two-leg. That's why I brought him to you. I thought this might be of some concern to you." Forest bowed her head respectfully to her grandfather.
"A two-leg? Here?" Juliet murmured.

Starfrost frowned gently. "...where do you live with your two-leg?" He asked Ink, slowly, very wary and uneasy with the situation. He didn't like the idea of two-legs much at all, knowing full-well the legends of their horrible deeds. And he would like to keep the forest as it was, thanks.

"Uh...near by. She likes the forest." Ink explained. He looked around nervously at the wolves. They looked like dogs, only large and much, much more dangerous. Some of them had blood smeared acros their maws, most likely from their most recent meal. He gulped. They wouldn't eat him would they? "W-What's wrong with h-humans?"
"Last time two-legs lived here, they nearly killed us all." Forest murmured quietly, almost thoughtfully.

"Does your human have any others? A mate or anything?" Starfrost continued to question, ignoring Forest's quiet murmur. He was trying to think over in his head the different scenarios. How could they go about this without putting the pack, and the forest, at risk...?

Ink hesitated, then nodded. "She has a mate...but he doesn't live with us. He stayed back in the city. It's just her and me." He looked at Forest then at some of the other wolves. Most of them seemed to look alike in terms of build and pelt. It looked like one big family.

Starfrost frowned lightly before sighing. "Forest, take him back to the border. He needs to leave before they come looking for him." He turned away and back to the den. "He can not visit this place again, lest his human starts to get curious. Understood?"

Forest nodded once. Ink nodded as well. He certainly didn't want this wolf angry at him. He seemed important. Forest shoved him a bit and led him out of the dens. Ink couldn't help but glance back. It was hard to believe all those wolves were living so close to his two-leg's home.
"Show me where this place is...that way I can tell my grandfather and the others can avoid it." Forest said.
"Why do you hate two-legs so much?" Ink asked again.
Forest shuddered. "The legends of old." She raised her ears, having caught Sol's scent again. She looked around hopefully. Quite honestly, she didn't want to go to this dog's home by herself.

The long-legged male loped out from the brush nearby, giving her another lick on the cheek as he came up. "What's the verdict?" He asked, rather relaxed as he glanced down at Ink. But he seemed to be the only one, out of the whole pack. His tail was even wagging a little.

"Grandfather is worried that his two-leg will come looking for him and find the dens. He is to stay away." Forest replied, blushing. "I'm going to go back with him to his den and see where it is. That way we'll all know the avoid it."
Ink stared at Forest curiously. "That wolf...was your grandfather?" He had personally never known any of his kin aside from his littermates and his mother. But even that family was short-lived, because he was sold once he was old enough.
"Starfrost?" Forest asked. "Yes. He's my mother's father. And our Alpha. Or...uh...leader." She decided to put things in terms that Ink could understand.

Sol smiled warmly at Forest, nuzzling her in praise to treating the situation so well. "The pack here is made up of a complete family, Ink." He explained to the dog, welcoming, actually. "Sort of like how most two-legs stay in one den with their families."

"So...if he's the leader...what does that make you?" Ink asked.
"My rank isn't very high...but it isn't very low, either." Forest replied. She paused, seeing a confused look pass over Ink's face again. "Each wolf has a rank...and it determines what you can do. If you have a low rank, you have to let wolves that have a rank higher than you eat first and you have to obey them. Every wolf must know his or her place."

"Mine, for instance," Sol added, shrugging. "Is Omega - the lowest rank a wolf can have. If I do one more thing wrong, I'm out of the pack. So I eat last and even a pup could order me around." He didn't seem very bothered by it, though, simply relaxed trotting beside Forest. "However, since Forest is a descendant of the Alpha, she's of a much higher rank, and is highly respected."

Forest blushed. "Do you understand now?"
Ink was bursting with questions. "Why do you need ranks? What's the point?"
Forest blinked. "It is how things have always been. Without ranks, there isn't any order. We'd all be fighting so much that we'd eventually kill each other." She was suddenly overpowered by a strange, harsh scent. She shook her head to clear it. She could hear someone yelling Ink's name in the distance.

Sol stopped short, growling softly at the smell. "This is where we stop." He snorted, trying to get the scent out of his nose. He still hated that smell, after all he'd seen associated with it. It was purely disgusting and revolting to him now.
