He nodded. "Of course I will. I'd sooner die than let her be hurt." He reassured, nuzzling his new mate gently. "Don't worry. She'll be safe. Just as Magic would have been had he been forced to stay in that pack." He glanced at the other, knowig that if he reminded them all of how the pup at the time barely had a scratch on him when he returned a year before, they would know to be able to leave Forest in his care. "Not one will touch her."

"He'll take care of her, Mother." Magic assured her. He looked at Sol and nodded once. Magic trusted Sol to keep his sister safe, just as he had done for him. He nuzzled his sister, whimpering a bit. "I'm going to miss you."
"The both of you can cross the border whenever you like." Mystic told them. Her tail was between her legs, and she looked so forlorn. It was like losing Magic all over. Only this time it was her sweet, vulnerable daughter.
"I want to stay for a bit and say goodbye to everyone." Forest whimpered. Her father, all of her friends, her grandparents, her other family...she was leaving them all behind.

"You'll come back, Forest." Sol smiled warmly at her. "It may just... be a while." He frowned now as he realized. No matter what way one looked at it... Forest would probably not be there when her grandfather died. He winced at the realization, looking away. And it would be his fault. He sighed and moved back. "...I'll wait at the border for you." He spoke softly, moving off to wait.

Forest seemed to realize this, too. She nuzzled her grandfather and thought aboyut everything he'd ever done for her when she was a pup. "Goodbye, Grandfather..." She looked around, wondering where her father and grandmother were.

Romeo had paced over, head down, eyes depressed. He leaned over and licked his daughter's snout, whimpering softly. He didn't want to be strong. He wanted his daughter to stay. But, knowing that it wasn't an option, he just sighed. "Good luck, hun." He whispered softly.

Forest whimpered and licked her father's cheek. She would need more than luck, she knew. Forest nuzzled his neck and whimpered helpessly. She wouldn't abandon Sol. She couldn't. "I'll miss you."

He ducked his head and sighed. "Go on ahead. We'll see each other at the border, remember? You have to come visit as often as you can." He smiled softly, stepping back. "Just... be careful."

Forest whimpered. She nuzzled everyone one last time, before heading into the woods. She paused at the tree line, as if reluctant to leave the dens for the final time. Then, with a visible sob, she began to scurry off towards the border.
Magic felt his eyes sting with tears. He threw back his head and howled. Juliet joined in, as did their mother. And not very far off, Forest's distinct howl could be heard. Sweet and smooth. Like music. She returned their goodbye, until all of their howls faded into the air. Magic whimpered.
