Of course, since no one would think to come here. Well... mostly no one. The petite brown female paused before pushing into a half-burned building, curling up into a secluded spot in the corner. The ash made the spot soft, cushioning against the broken glass, enough that she felt safe gently setting down the two pups in her mouth. The other two she had entrusted to Sol Whitelighter, as she knew him, and his older brother. A few months ago, she would've thought the decision to leave her two daughters in the paws of the notorious Bleaknight would be downright stupid. Now, she knew they could be in much, much worse paws.
Travel curled up tight, impulsively grooming her two remaining sons. One was actually very handsome, having taking the appeal of his father, and the wider eyes of his mother, with long, graceful ears and a slim body for a pup. The other had inherited his father's... what most would call ugliness. But the tiny brown female could look past the hair-lip and the rugged features of her surprisingly youngest son, and she licked him especially, hoping he knew somehow that she would not be the one to judge him. Sure, there was a part of her that was terrified of the similarities - his father hadn't been the most gentle of males. But she wasn't going to stop loving him for that.
She just hoped the pups' father wasn't around...
(Sorry it's so long. xD)

(lllllllllllooooooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg. xD)
The dark male seemed to be quite at home in such a dead place. his fur seemed to blend with the shadows and ash as he moved. he paused for a moment, sniffing the air. it was hard to get a whiff of anything around here. it all smelled burnt. he leaped onto a pile of rubble to survey his surroundings. he flicked his long ears forward for any sound to enter them. he barely blinked his strange purple eyes as he listened. he relaxed after a long moment and sat down, quite happy he didn't have a giant bright red tag-along to give off his position and eat everything in sight. he growled at the thought of the rat faced canine. such a pest.
(Dither: I'm sexy~ e3e)

Travel stiffened as she caught the scent, drawing her ears back. Glancing at her two pups, she stood, pulling an old ragged blanket over them to hide them, ignoring their whimpering protests for now. Instead, she peeked outside, ears perked to catch any noise. Her tiny body bumped against the wall, causing a part of it to collapse from misuse. She jumped, but just shook it off, not really thinking he'd be close enough to hear or anything.

Dither flicked his ears in her direction and hopped off, his shoulder and leg muscles rippling with the impact. he turned to look, raising his tail. a trail of saliva was slowly making it's way from his hair-lip to the earth. he began to trot towards her shelter, keeping his tail high.

She growled softly at him, much less willing to be around him that she was a few months before, mostly out of fear. It had taken her forever to get his drool out of her fur, and she'd like to keep it that way for now. She ducked back into the shelter and ran for it, up the creaking, ancient stairs to escape him.

a wicked grin slid across Dither's face. don't run little girl. he inspected the shelter as he got closer to it, giving a small growl. he could fit in, but many of the stairs would most likely give in under his weight. He slipped inside, sniffing around the ground floor before he made his way over to the stairs. he glanced up and tested the first stair.

Travel watched him a moment before glancing over at the blackened blanket where tiny movements stirred. She crouched, readying, before leaping back down the saits, trying to leap past Dither, but it seemed she might fall short....

Dither noticed the movement and turned to look directly at them. he twitched and quickly turned to her as she landed. He grinned again, watching her with his sinful eyes." why would you hide in such a place, little one?" he kept his voice low, but it was strong and intimidating. It was very odd, though. like he was speaking with only half his tongue. he shot a glance at the rag. it wasn't too hard for him to guess what was under it.

She snarled, quickly dashing over to the rag, even if it meant limping on a broken leg. Standing protectively over it, she narrowed her eyes at him. "I figured it'd be the last place you'd look." She growled, favoring her damaged leg.

He glanced at her leg, keeping the grin on his face. "you figured wrong." he slowly moved towards her, keeping his eyes on her. " now tell me...how many are there..?" he was quite curious. he was really hoping for a bunch of little girls. how he loved them when they were young.

Boy, was he in for it. "Two boys." She answered, clear and confident, moving the rag just enough for him to see. "Sorry to disappoint." Inside, she was entirely releived, but kept it hidden, only showing defensive, protective motherly instincts.

"you're not lying are you?" he stared at the pups." because I don't like to be lied to..." he inched a little closer, turning back to stare Travel in the eyes. he usually had more than two puppies. maybe it was because she was so small..

"The others died." She replied, lying with unusual ease. The desperate situation was making it easy. "Two girls, dead an hour after birth." She met his gaze unfaltering, not a hint of a lie at all. Odd.

Sad. he rarely ever has girls. he let out a disappointed sigh and moved towards the exit, but turned to quickly knock her away from the pups.

Travel snarled as she was forced to the ground by the blow, whimpering as she pulled her injured leg close. She glared up at him, flicking her tail angrily. "Don't touch them."
(I had a scary dream about this. D:)
